Artillery fungus is a wood-decaying fungus that likes to live in landscape mulch....
In its natural habitat, artillery fungi shoots spores towards sunlight and can shoot up to 20 feet.
At your home, the fungus may behave differently meaning that lack of direct sunlight will cause the fungi to shoot spores at reflective surfaces, such as white siding or cars. This doesn't always mean that these are the only places you can find it growing.
Once spores get on the surface they are very difficult to remove as they latch on and have a sticky substance to help the fungus stay adhered to the surfaces.
Have your homes exterior cleaned on a regular basis to help prevent damage to home or cars also the fungi grows in the mulch beds that keeps moist and wet, try using a barq based mulch, larger mulch pieces or a stone bed instead.
